The Buccaneers' Super Bowl victory boat parade was a favorite topic for late-night hosts, with NBC’s Jimmy Fallon noting Tom Brady "did something pretty risky with the Lombardi Trophy" by tossing it from one boat to another. Fallon: “It was a fun moment until a second later, when Gronk spiked it on a manatee. ... If you’re going to catch something on a boat in Tampa, a trophy is the best-case scenario” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 2/10).
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel: “The G.O.A.T. was in a boat. You can see Tom Brady here throwing the Lombardi trophy to Rob Gronkowski in the other boat. This is what happens when you have too many trophies, you start throwing them around. Brady definitely had fun. After the festivities, he had to be helped out (appearing to be intoxicated). CBS’ James Corden: “That’s when you know you’ve won too many Super Bowls when you’re like, ‘Ahh, if it goes in the water we’ll just get another one next year.’” Corden said of the post-parade footage of an apparently intoxicated Brady being led away, “He only had one glass of Chardonnay. It just hits harder when you’re older. It just goes to show, you can be one of the most accomplished athletes ever but once you move to Florida, it defines you” (“The Late Late Show,” CBS, 2/10).
