USOPC Cancels Media Summit Over Coronavirus Concerns

The USOPC canceled the pre-Tokyo Games media summit set to start Sunday in L.A., citing fears of possibly spreading the coronavirus. The four-day summit, a practice since '98, is designed to efficiently allow the country’s reporters, photographers and other content creators to interview more than 100 members of Team USA amid their busy training schedules. It will not be rescheduled “in its current form,” a spokesperson said, but USOPC officials are “aggressively brainstorming” other ways to allow athletes to get their stories covered. The summit was set to take over the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown L.A. from Sunday-Wednesday.
