LPGA Cancels Two More Asian Events Due To Coronavirus

The LPGA canceled upcoming events in Thailand and Singapore due to "concerns over the coronavirus," so the tour "has now canceled all three events on its Asian swing, having previously canceled the event on China's Hainan Island." The LPGA indicated that it has "no plans to reschedule the events later" in '20. Both limited-field events were run by IMG. After this week’s ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, the LPGA "will have a month-long break" before the Volvik Founders Cup March 19-22 in Phoenix (GOLFWEEK.com, 2/9).

The Thailand and Singapore tournaments "have been the backbone" of the LPGA's international events, "offering fields limited to top players, no cuts and a lucrative time for players who are given free travel and lodging in premium hotels" (AP, 2/9).
