U.S. Ski & Snowboard's Chief Commercial Officer Set To Leave

U.S. Ski & Snowboard Chief Commercial Officer Dan Barnett will step down in the coming weeks after more than two years in the role. Part of his duties will be absorbed by Andy McKeon, a former Apple and Facebook employee who recently joined USS as Head of Marketing Communications but will now become CMO. He will oversee marketing, communications, social media strategy and partner activations. The sales side of Barnett’s job will be addressed in a reorganization that will be explained more fully shortly, President & CEO Tiger Shaw said. The NGB declined to give a reason for Barnett’s departure, but both Barnett and Shaw said he is leaving on good terms.

McKeon spent six years at Facebook as global customer marketing lead, where he advised the social media giant’s top customers on their marketing. His experience is well-suited for USS’ ongoing efforts to more aggressively promote their athletes on social and digital platforms, Shaw said. “Andy is just a guru in that area,” Shaw said. “We’re oddly in a pretty good place. We’re sad to see Dan go, but we have these super-qualified people who want to come work with us and take it to another level.” Barnett was hired in '17. He signed Land Rover in a major deal to replace Toyota earlier this year, and also helped sell the Visa City Big Air Series after the concept’s debut in '15.
