IndyCar Unveils Schedule: Richmond In, Pocono Out

IndyCar today will formally announce plans to return to Richmond Raceway, running a night race on June 27 next year following an "11-year hiatus" from the track. Tickets went on sale immediately after Sunday's initial announcement, "with prices starting at $25" (RICHMOND TIMES DISPATCH, 9/2). Richmond will replace Pocono on the 17-race schedule in '20, as the Pennsylvania track "has been the scene of some serious crashes since it returned to the series" in '13. IndyCar CEO Mark Miles said that the NTT IndyCar Series "could return to Pocono in the future" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 9/2).
