Union's Alejandro Bedoya Pleads For Gun Control Following Goal
Union MF Alejandro Bedoya yesterday "screamed out a plea for stricter gun control into an on-field microphone" after scoring a goal against DC United at Audi Field. Upon scoring the first-half goal, Bedoya ran to a corner of the field, grabbed the mic from the field, and yelled: "Hey, Congress, do something now! End Gun Violence! Let’s Go!" The audio was "heard by the FS1 TV audience." Before yesterday's game, Bedoya tweeted out his "views on gun control" (MIAMI HERALD, 8/5). Talking to reporters after the game, Bedoya said, "I’m not going to sit idly and watch this stuff and not say something. ... Something’s got to be done" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 8/5).
