RingCentral To Acquire Naming Rights To Oakland Coliseum

Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum will soon become RingCentral Coliseum, as the California-based business communications provider is buying the naming rights and will pay $1M a year for the "next three years, with an option for a fourth year." If the stadium authority approves the deal in a Friday vote, the "name change would go into effect immediately." The last company to hold the naming rights to the venue was Overstock.com -- or O.co -- which pulled out of its $1.45M-a-year deal after the Raiders announced plans in '16 to leave for Las Vegas (S.F. CHRONICLE, 5/14).

Meanwhile, the Port of Oakland has "cleared the bases" for the A's to "possibly build a 35,000-seat ballpark on its Howard Terminal site." The port's Board of Commissioners "unanimously approved an exclusive negotiating term sheet that would give the A's four years to obtain land use permits, conduct an environmental review and do other preparatory work needed to eventually lease" the 50-acre site (BAY AREA NEWS GROUP, 5/13).
