Deadline Passes For Fox-Altice Deal, But Channels Still On

Fox stations remain on Altice’s N.Y.-area Optimum Systems this morning even though the affiliate deal between the two ended at midnight last night. A source said the two sides agreed to a short extension so that they can continue to negotiate. It is not clear how long the extension will last, but it is not expected to last until Tuesday. Fox last week said the two sides were not close and warned that subscribers that its channels -- including Fox broadcast, FS1, FS2 and some RSNs -- could go dark on Altice systems. Altice said Fox was asking for “hundreds of millions of dollars in new fees.” Fox is using its sports leverage this month, which includes NFL regular-season and MLB postseason games.
