NBC Promoting NFL Opener Across Family Of Networks

The NFL kicks off tonight with the Eagles hosting the Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field on NBC, and the net is promoting the broadcast throughout this morning’s episode of “Today.” NBC’s Sheinelle Jones, Ron Mott, Mike Tirico and Al Roker are all broadcasting live from Philly ahead of the game. Mott noted everyone “is pumped about this big game tonight,” but the league is “still catching heat for players kneeling during the national anthem.” He also noted Nike is “adding fuel to the fire” with its plan to air the Colin Kaepernick-focused ad during tonight’s broadcast (“Today,” NBC, 9/6).

CNBC's Jim Cramer will air his “Mad Money” show tonight from Philly’s Comcast Center Plaza and "feature interviews with his bosses at Comcast, including CEO Brian Roberts" (PHILLY.com, 9/6). Cramer, a noted Eagles fan, appeared on “Today” wearing an Eagles hat and a blazer covered with the team’s logo (THE DAILY).

Today’s issue of THE DAILY is the first of our two-part NFL season preview issues. In addition to stories about the Kaepernick ad and the anthem controversy, we also dive into ratings projections for the season, take a look at Mark Leibovich’s much-talked about new book “Big Game” and examine the overall state of the league.
