PGA Championship Kicks Off; Woods' Round 1 Too Early For TNT

The PGA Championship teed off this morning at Bellerive Country Club, but there will be "no live television coverage" of Tiger Woods’ first-round play. Woods is scheduled to tee off at 9:23am ET "in a power group that also consists of Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy." TNT "isn’t putting golf on the air until" 2:00pm. However, there "will be live streaming coverage of that group on PGA.com and the PGA Championship app." CBS Sports Chair Sean McManus said that television coverage "might start earlier in the years ahead" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/9).

Meanwhile, both the N.Y Times and USA Today run a full-page ad from Citi featuring Thomas, the defending champion this week: "Moments That Can Never Be Beat" (THE DAILY).
