Double Play: Alex Rodriguez On Working For Both Fox, ESPN

Alex Rodriguez appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” last night and discussed joining ESPN's “Sunday Night Baseball” while remaining at Fox. Rodriguez said Fox execs “discovered me" as a TV talent, "they gave me my first opportunity and they allowed for this day to really be a groundbreaking day for me. So I'm really excited to be working with two major companies, Disney and Fox.” Rodriguez noted at ESPN, he will be working with Jessica Mendoza, the “first female that’s been in the booth doing color on a national platform.” Rodriguez: "Maybe my daughters one day get to be in the booth with dad.”

Host Jimmy Fallon then asked A-Rod to discuss his work on ABC's “Shark Tank.” Rodriguez: “On Sunday nights, America gets their MBA, maybe not from Harvard business school, but from ‘Shark Tank,’ and it's just been a blast.” Later in the broadcast, Rodriguez took part in a hitting contest against a 1-year-old YouTube hitting sensation. Rodriguez lost and said, “That’s why I’m doing TV now” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 1/23).
