Angels, Dodgers Add Expanded Protective Netting For '18 Season
The Angels yesterday became the latest MLB team to "announce plans to expand the protective netting at their home ballpark" in the "wake of increased awareness of fan safety." The netting at Angel Stadium "will now extend to the ends of both dugouts." The team will "announce specific details at a later date" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 1/24).
The Dodgers also will be "among the growing number of teams adding" netting to the area behind home plate this season. Team President & CEO Stan Kasten said that Dodger Stadium's additional netting is "expected to be in place" by late March. At least 14 MLB clubs now have "announced plans to expand their safety netting" for the '18 season (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 1/24).
