Adidas Reduces '14 Outlook, Postpones '15 Targets After Q2

Shares in adidas "tumbled" yesterday after the company "cut its 2014 outlook and postponed 2015 targets, citing risks surrounding Russia and challenges at its golf business." adidas also said that increased marketing costs stemming from the FIFA World Cup "offset underlying growth for the adidas and Reebok brands" in Q2, and that it "will continue to invest in further growth." Q2 profit fell to $193M (all figures US) from $230M in the year-ago period, while sales rose 2% to $4.64B. Operating profit was $294M, down from $337M in Q2 '13 (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/31).
