How It's Playing: MLB Suspensions Dot Front Pages, News Sites

USA Today gives front-page treatment to the slew of PED suspensions that MLB announced yesterday. Under the headline "Yer Out," Rodriguez appears above the fold, as do head shots of many of the other players disciplined in the wake of the Biogenesis scandal. The N.Y. Times places the A-Rod story on the front page below the fold with the headline, "A Big Name Back In The Lineup, But Crossed Off Baseball's List." The Wall Street Journal front page features an image of Rodriguez and several other suspended players with the header, "Thirteen Men Out: Baseball Issues Drug Bans." The L.A. Times went with, "Baseball Bans 13 For Drug Use" on the front-page rail.

At 8:00pm ET last night, around the time the Yankees-White Sox game began, five network news websites – CNN.com, NBCNews.com, ABCNews.com, CBSNews.com and FoxNews.com – had the Rodriguez suspension as their top news story (THE DAILY).

The back pages of the major metropolitan tabloids have plenty to say about the suspensions as well.
