Naming Rights To Scotiabank Place Sold To Canadian Tire

The Senators today are expected to confirm that the naming rights to Scotiabank Place have been sold to Canadian Tire. It is believed the new name will be the Canadian Tire Centre as Capitals Sports Properties last week registered the domain name CanadianTireCentre.com. Scotiabank signed a 15-year deal in ’06, but the deal “is no longer in place because the bank doesn’t serve as a financial backer” and team Owner Eugene Melnyk “had the right to find a new partner” (OTTAWA SUN, 6/18).

The bank still has naming rights to the Flames' Scotiabank Saddledome.
