New Arena Lease Deal For Coyotes Being Presented Today

The future of the Coyotes "likely will hinge on a complex deal" scheduled to be outlined to the Glendale City Council today in a private session. Council member Gary Sherwood said that the deal would guarantee a prospective ownership group "lucrative terms for a long-term management deal to operate Jobing.com Arena," and in exchange, the group "would give the city access to millions of dollars in revenue derived from events held at the facility" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 6/18).

Meanwhile, in the wake of reports that he would run the team's hockey operations under the new owners, NBC's Jeremy Roenick said, "My job right now is to cover the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. ... It's my dream job. I have always wanted to work for TV." But Roenick "would neither confirm nor deny the report." He has "shown an interest in the suit-and-tie side of the NHL in the past" (FOXSPORTSARIZONA.com, 6/17).
