Weekend Attendance Notes....

A crowd of 44,575 yesterday attended the second leg of the Galaxy-Sounders MLS Western Conference final at CenturyLink Field. The attendance figure was "a franchise-record turnout for the playoffs and the largest in MLS postseason history for a nonfinal" (SEATTLE TIMES, 11/19).

A "raucous standing-room-only" crowd of 20,015 yesterday attended the second leg of the Dynamo-DC United MLS Eastern Conference final at RFK Stadium. The Dynamo advanced to the MLS Cup with a 4-2 goal aggregate (WASHINGTONTIMES.com, 11/18).

Approximately 28,500 runners participated in Sunday's Philadelphia Marathon (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 11/19).

About 7,000 participants this weekend took part in a 2.5-mile Spartan Race at Fenway Park. The race was the first time an endurance event "was held at a stadium, a testament, organizers said, to the sport's surging popularity" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/19).
