The next step for the Warriors' proposed S.F. arena project comes today, when the "politically powerful and progressive" Local 2 restaurant and hotel workers union is expected to join the "more conservative building trade unions" in urging the Board of Supervisors to approve the deal (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/18).

NFL referee Tony Corrente has been fined one game check for "uttering some obscenities with his microphone on" during the Nov. 4 Dolphins-Colts game. A referee with Corrente's experience earns approximately $9,000 a game (AP, 11/16).

The NBA today begins its NBA Cares Season of Giving, a community service effort that runs through the end of the year. Season of Giving events will be led by current and former players, coaches and execs and will focus on areas of education, health and wellness and hands-on service (NBA).

The Milk Processor Education Program is running a full-page ad in USA Today featuring Giants WR Hakeem Nicks drinking milk out of a cereal bowl with the copy, "The Game Plan At Breakfast. Got Milk?" The ad also features the Fuel Up To Play 60 logo (THE DAILY).
