NHL Network To Launch "NHL Tonight" Postgame Highlights Program

NHL Network will launch a new postgame highlights show on Monday, Dec. 26, called "NHL Tonight." The program will begin at 10:00pm ET and run until all of the primetime West Coast games have finished, and it will include recaps and highlights from all games played each night. "NHL Tonight" replaces the postgame version of "NHL On the Fly," which previously occupied that time slot. The primetime airing of "NHL On the Fly" will remain in the 7:00-10:00pm time slot.

“It will be a faster-paced show than ('On the Fly')," said NHL Network Exec Producer Mark Preisler. “This show is the next step in the evolution of where the network is going.” Preisler said "NHL Tonight" will use the same on-air talent and Toronto studios as "On the Fly," but with a new graphics package and a different highlights format. It will also include regular segments shot at the NHL’s “Situation Room” in Toronto, where officials make video reviews of all controversial plays. Preisler said "NHL Tonight" will also use an arena camera to air live postgame interviews with players and coaches, but the camera will not be used for the debut program.
