Media Outlets In NBA Markets React To NBPA Decertification

With the NBPA decertifying as a union and rejecting a proposal to end the lockout, Morning Buzz offers a roundup of this morning's front-page headlines from newspapers in select NBA markets. All five of the papers below are in small-to-medium markets, and all five went above the fold with their stories.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel last night had some fun discussing how the lockout will impact NBA TV's programming. Kimmel: “They're scrambling to put original programs together and so far, this is what they've come up with.” A display listed a three-hour block of shows on the network. At 8:00pm, “NBA Craft Corner,” where you can “turn your old basketballs into beautiful accessories and gifts.” At 8:30pm, “Jack Nicholson Sits In A Golf Cart Waiting For The NBA Season To Start,” which features actor Jack Nicholson “like you've never seen him before, sitting in a golf cart waiting for the NBA season to start.” At 9:00pm, “Ref Comedy Jam,” with NBA referees doing stand-up comedy. Video was shown of a “referee” doing stand-up and saying, “I told him I said, ‘Son, that free throw ain't free. You drive the lane, your ass is gonna pay!’” Finally at 10:00pm, “The Kardashelorette,” an NBA-style dating show where 25 players “compete for the heart and butt of Kim Kardashian.” Announcer: “Who will be her husband for the next 72 days?” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 11/14).
