The NCAA today is slated to "announce the findings from June's Committee on Infractions hearing" on the Univ. of Tennessee athletic department. The school reportedly "will not be hit with any further sanctions" other than what it has already self-imposed (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 8/24).

Fox Soccer and UEFA have entered into a multiyear media rights deal to air Europa League matches. Fox Soccer becomes the only network in the U.S. and Caribbean with rights to both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League (Fox Soccer).

The MLS Timbers announced that they will expand the seating capacity at Jeld-Wen Field to 20,323 for their final two MLS home games this season against the Revolution and Dynamo (Timbers).

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster this week during private meetings with City Council members is "revealing details about a secret plan to keep" the Rays from leaving town. Foster's plan "remains under wraps" and the mayor did not "return multiple calls seeking more information" (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 8/24).

The dedication ceremony for Chuck Noll Way scheduled for this morning has been postponed due to the fact that Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will be attending the funeral of one of the victims in the recent flooding in the city (Steelers).

A crowd of 32,231 attended the Clinton County, Pa.-Warner Robbins, Ga., Little League World Series game in Williamsport, Pa. Last night's crowd brought the total attendance for the four LLWS games that the Clinton County team has played in to 136,643 (CENTRE DAILY TIMES, 8/24). Clinton County is 30 miles from Williamsport (THE DAILY).
