Laurel Richie Today Beginning Work As WNBA's Third President
Laurel Richie begins her job today as WNBA President. She becomes the third WNBA President, succeeding Donna Orender, who served in the role from '05-10, and founding WNBA President Val Ackerman. Unlike Orender and Ackerman, Richie comes to the WNBA with no prior background in women’s basketball. Richie spent more than 20 years working for Oligvy & Mather and since '08 worked as Girl Scouts of the USA CMO. The WNBA begins its 15th season on June 3.
