Bulls' Young Buys Stake In Brisbane Bullets, Continuing NBA Trend

Bulls F Thad Young is "buying a minority ownership stake" in the Brisbane Bullets of Australia's National Basketball League, according to Jamal Collier of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. The league has "recently emerged as an alternative for high school players who turn pro rather than spend a year in college." Young said, "The league is primed for growth. The NBL has done a really good job the last couple years of kind of bursting onto the scene." Young "joins a list of NBA players who have bought into" the league. Rockets Gs John Wall and Dante Exum in November joined former NBAers Zach Randolph, Al Harrington and Josh Childress in buying into the South East Melbourne Phoenix. Former NBAers Matt Walsh and Shawn Marion, along with Rockets G Victor Oladipo, bought into the New Zealand Breakers, who play in the NBL, that same month. Young "was recruited" by Bullets majority Owner and former NBAer Kevin Martin (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 1/23).
