Binge Watching With The Famous Group's Jon Slusser

Slusser can't get enough of the "Smartless" podcast, with its prominent-celebrity guestsJon Slusser

The Famous Group Owner & Managing Partner JON SLUSSER has been keeping busy helping to bring fans into the Warriors' "Dub Hub" and WWE ThunderDome with "Virtual Seat," but that didn't stop him from catching up with THE DAILY to break down what he's watching and listening to. Some responses have been edited for clarity and brevity.

  • There's been a movement toward appreciating some of these classic '80s moments, an era that was the birth of technology. "STRANGER THINGS," obviously, is a lot of fun, especially the latest season because it went from more of a horror to more adventure. It has a little bit more of that "THE GOONIES" vibe.
  • I spend a lot of time in MMA, and there's a "COBRA KAI" or "THE KARATE KID" reference almost every day in a tongue-in-cheek way. It's super fun to see those characters reborn. Again, bringing back those memories of youth, and it's great that this new generation, my kids, are appreciating this retro stuff.
  • "SMARTLESS" is a podcast by JASON BATEMANSEAN HAYES and WILL ARNETT. The premise is that one of them asks a celebrity friend to join the podcast, while the other two don't know who's going to be on. The stars they are pulling in are huge: JENNIFER ANISTONWILL FERRELLRON HOWARDSETH ROGANMARTIN SHORTROBERT DOWNEY JR.REESE WITHERSPOON.
  • There is no one cooler on the planet -- and it's not because he went to USC like I did -- than TOM SELLECK, so when I want to go real back, I go to "MAGNUM, P.I." It's not just because it has helicopters in Hawaii. It actually was a darn-good show, written really well. That's my guilty-retro pleasure.
  • "TIGER KING" defines reality TV in its lowest and best form. But I must say: The show that I've been watching the most during COVID, that I find myself attracted to whether I like it or not, is a show called Zoom.
