Clear Hires Former Secret Service Agent/NBA Chief of Security to Head Sports Division

Biometric identification company Clear has hired Jerome Pickett, most recently the NBA’s EVP and chief security officer, to lead its sports and entertainment division.

Pickett had a steady hand in the NBA’s coronavirus protocols that led to the league’s successful bubble in Orlando. Prior to the NBA, he spent 16 years with the U.S. Secret Service, where he spearheaded forensic investigations of cyber crimes. Beginning in January, Pickett will assume the role of SVP and general manager of sports and entertainment at Clear.

Clear’s biometric check-in locations are widespread among U.S. sporting venues. The company’s facial scanning and touchless services are now of even greater demand because of the pandemic.

In August, Clear’s mobile app launched Health Pass, a COVID-19 screening feature that was used inside the NHL’s playoff bubbles in Canada.
