Eagles, DraftKings Strike New Sports Betting Deal At Stadium

DraftKings Field Club at Lincoln Financial Field will not be a sportsbook, but will have the feel of oneEagles

The Eagles signed a partnership with DraftKings that "includes the naming rights to the Field Club at Lincoln Financial Field," according to Ed Barkowitz of the PHILDELPHIA INQUIRER. It "won't be a sportsbook, but it will have the feel of one." The stadium "promises to look very different when fans are allowed to return." DraftKings becomes the "second sports-betting operation deal closed by" Eagles Senior VP/Revenue & Strategy Catherine Carlson. The club on Sept. 15 announced that a "new 4,000-square-foot lounge, sponsored by Fox Bet, would open at the Linc for paying customers" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 10/2). BARRONS.com's Connor Smith noted DraftKings will "host a free game called Eagles Stat Showdown, which will offer weekly prizes." DraftKings' stock has "soared about 211% since its merger with Diamond Eagle Acquisition closed in April" (BARRONS.com, 10/1). CNBC’s Joe Kernen said the deal between DraftKings and the Eagles "could be a direct shot across the bow of rival Penn Gaming whose Barstool Sports betting app was released last week in Pennsylvania.” Kernen: “I don't think we can really appreciate how far we’ve come in terms of having sports and sports teams actually associated with gambling” (“Squawk Box,” CNBC, 10/1).
