DAZN Picks Up Partial German, Swiss Rights For Bundesliga Games

DAZN cut a deal with the Deutsche Football League that will see it pick up German and Swiss rights to stream nine Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 games, and four relegation games, through the rest of the season. DAZN previously carried Bundesliga games through a sub-license deal it had signed with Discovery, which carried a secondary package on its Eurosport channel. Discovery pulled out of its four-year deal with the German league, citing a force majeure clause after the league halted games at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Sky Deutschland holds the rights to the main package. The deal also includes highlight rights, allowing DAZN to show highlights 40 minutes after the final whistle. DAZN cut its new streaming deal directly with the German league. DAZN’s new deal starts tomorrow with the Hertha BSC-1 FC Union Berlin match.
