Williamson last June sued Ford and Prime Sports in an attempt to terminate his marketing agreementGETTY IMAGES

The legal battle between Pelicans F ZION WILLIAMSON and his former agent in a Florida court "now includes allegations he received impermissible benefits prior to his one season" at Duke. Prime Sports Marketing agent GINA FORD "claims, without presenting evidence, that Williamson and his parents 'demanded and received gifts, money and/or other benefits from persons on behalf of Duke University (directly and/or indirectly).'" Ford's claims are "included in several requests for admission," and Williamson has "30 days to respond" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 5/11). Williamson last June sued Ford and Prime Sports in an "attempt to terminate his marketing agreement." Williamson's attorney "claimed the contract was in violation of North Carolina's Uniform Athlete Agents Act because Prime Sports is not certified" by the NBPA nor a "registered athlete agent in North Carolina or Florida" (ESPN.com, 5/10). The foundation also alleges in a lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court that the USOPC "engaged in inappropriate use of funds and self dealing, and concealed 'systematic failures and impropriety in its operations.'" Ulich also alleges that former USOPC CEO SCOTT BLACKMUN "misled GSD officials about plans for the U.S. Center for SafeSport while soliciting contributions from GSD for the center" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 5/9).
