Pegula Sports & Entertainment Lays Off Hospitality Workers

Even if employees are rehired, there has been no guarantee they will come back at the same payGETTY IMAGES

Pegula Sports & Entertainment, owned by TERRY and KIM PEGULA, "laid off most of their hospitality workers" last week, "including those at (716) Food and Sports, the Draft Room and the Healthy Scratch at Harborcenter," according to Vogl & Graham of THE ATHLETIC. The layoffs are an "unfortunate side effect happening all over the world" due to the coronavirus pandemic. But it is the "fine print that has left a bad taste" for the PSE food workers, as their jobs "won't be waiting for them when the restaurants reopen." PSE VP/Hospitality DOMINIC VERNI in the termination letter wrote, "As a valuable asset to our hospitality family when business returns to normalcy, we encourage you to come back and apply for an open position. You will be amongst the first considered to re-join our teams." Vogl & Graham noted even if the employees are rehired and return to work, there has been "no guarantee they'll come back at their same rate of pay" (THEATHLETIC.com, 3/20).
