Ripken Baseball Partners With National Sports ID

Youth baseball organizer Ripken Baseball has partnered with National Sports ID to deploy the company’s online age verification tool for its baseball tournaments. More than 5,000 teams and 100,000 players compete in Ripken Baseball events per year.

NSID allows parents to create an online account and submit photos and documents of their children enrolling in youth sports. The company’s customer support team then works to verify a player’s information, age, and grade before issuing a player ID for athletes. The process eliminates the need for players and teams to carry birth certificates or proof of age documents when traveling to competitions.

STATE OF THE INDUSTRY: Make Sure You’re at the World’s Premier Sports Tech Event (March 26–27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn)

“National Sports ID is leveling the playing field in the youth sports world,” said NSID founder and CEO Ryan Tremblay, in a press release. “Organizations like Ripken Baseball are leading the way in preserving the safety and integrity of their tournaments by stepping up their game in age verification.”

The partnership will see NSID verify the ages of those participating in Ripken Baseball’s three-game and four-game tournaments this year, before expanding to all youth events in 2021. The company has previously verified ages of players from youth organizations such as AAU Basketball, the Jr. NBA World Championship, FBU National Championship, and United States Basketball Association.
