MLS and MGM Resorts Launch Predict 6, a Free-to-Play Game for Fans

Major League Soccer and its first official betting partner, MGM Resorts, have launched a free-to-play game, Predict 6, in which fans can earn up to $50,000 for correctly guessing match outcomes and the results of prop bets through the MLS app or the league website.

Each Thursday at noon Eastern, fans can begin making their picks at Predict6.MLSsoccer.com for the winners of six MLS matches that weekend. All six games will also have a corresponding proposition bet, with such categories as time of the first goal, halftime score and first player to score.

Users who correctly pick all six are eligible for the grand prize of $50,000. Each bet receives a corresponding point total—picking an underdog nets more points—that will be used to determine other prizes. BetMGM assigns points based on its odds. In the first week, for instance, correctly picking expansion franchise Inter Miami CF to beat reigning MLS Supporters' Shield winner LAFC in Los Angeles will net 50 points, while choosing LAFC earns only 10 points. If there are no perfect submissions, those who earn the most points can win $500.

“We see this as a great fan engagement opportunity,” says Chris Schlosser, MLS SVP of media. “We’ve had fantasy in the past, but we’ve never had something like this that’s lightweight and really easy for our fans to play. We think this will bring them into the game each and every week.”

MGM Resorts became the first official gaming partner of MLS back in March 2019. Second Spectrum became the league’s first advanced tracking data partner on Wednesday, and Schlosser says there is potential for its data to be used in creating prop bets in the future.
