Colts Expect Drop In Season-Ticket Renewals, Rise In New Sales For '20

Over the past couple of years, the Colts have almost tripled the size of their ticketing operationgetty images

The Colts are anticipating a "small drop" in season-ticket renewals for the '20 season, but new sales are "trending up," according to Jim Ayello of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Colts Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Roger VanDerSnick said that the team was "trending toward a renewal rate" in the low 90% versus a "franchise-record in the mid-90s entering last season." VanDerSnick added that the decline "wasn't unexpected," and he "warned of reading too much into the correlation between how a season ends and season ticket renewal." He also said the Colts are "ahead of last year's pace in terms of new ticket sales," adding that he "attributes the increase in new season tickets to a few different factors." The first is the "expanded and more experienced staff." Ayello notes over the past couple of years, the Colts have "close to tripled the size of their ticketing operation and more than doubled their service group." VanDerSnick said that the team also "tried to tailor their season ticket membership program more closely to specific types of fans," as this year, the team unveiled three types of packages. Lastly, the Colts "chose to either lower or maintain the prices for more than 66% of the seats inside Lucas Oil Stadium," raising the prices on the "other 33% percent of the tickets, generally in the higher-priced sections closest to the field" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 2/21).
