PointsBet Becomes NBA's 11th Authorized Sports Betting Operator

The latest addition to the NBA's stable of authorized sports betting operators is PointsBet, a sportsbook that pays winners more for covering a spread easily and extracts bigger losses when they fall short by a lot. Founded in Australia and now licensed in New Jersey and Iowa, with plans for further U.S. expansion, PointsBet becomes the 11th sportsbook to join the NBA’s authorized operator program, gaining access to team and league logos and to the league’s official betting data feed. As part of the deal, the sportsbook will integrate a branded "Win Probability Metric" across the NBA's digital platforms, including NBA.com and league social media. Using PointsBet generated analytics, win probabilities will be adjusted as each game unfolds. "Given their unique positioning in the marketplace, it was very important to PointsBet to find a differentiated element to this partnership," said NBA Senior VP and Head of Fantasy & Gaming Scott Kaufman-Ross. "It’s going to be an experiment with them. I don’t think we’ve figured out all the elements. We want to see where it’s appropriate to integrate." Win probability initially will appear on the NBA’s digital platforms, with the opportunity to integrate into telecasts later, Kaufman-Ross said.
