A Missouri City, Texas, family is suing Redskins LT TRENT WILLIAMS after they said that one of his pit bulls "brutally mauled to death their pet dog." The family in the lawsuit requests that a Fort Bend County court "remove Williams' 'illegal, backyard Pitbull commercial enterprise,'" and prevent Williams from "continuing his alleged backyard business 'Silver Bully Gang.'" The family also "seeks monetary damages for the death of their pet" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 1/14).
MOUNTING A DEFENSE: Paramount Pictures said that it is "not responsible for the death of a football player who played an extra in 'THE LONGEST YARD' because making a movie about football isn't the same as playing the game." Paramount is "seeking to strike portions of the lawsuit that accuse it of negligence and fraud tied to" the '19 death lawsuit of DARRYL HAMMOND. In addition to a role as a stunt double in the movie, Hammond also "played football for 15 years in the Arena Football League" (N.Y. POST, 1/14).
