Potential Raiders Sponsor Questions Length Of 10-Year, $30M Proposal

Members of the Southern Nevada Water Authority's advisory committee voiced "concerns with the length" of the proposed 10-year, $30M sponsorship deal for the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium, according to Alan Snel of LVSPORTSBIZ.com. One advisory committee member also "questioned" the Raiders' $30M sponsorship with the Authority because he "wondered how effective would a water conservation campaign be at the Raiders' new stadium where many of the attending fans will be out-of-town visitors and not even local water users." The proposal is for $2.5M a year in year one, with a 4% "increase annually for the decade-long sponsorship agreement." By year 10, it is $3.558M for that year. SNWA Senior Manager of Public Services Scott Huntley said that the Authority "pays a ballpark figure of $200,000" to the Golden Knights to promote the Authority's water conservation message and another $35,000 to RW Ryan Reaves. Meanwhile, SNWA Advisory Committee member Peter Guzman said of the proposal, "I'm not too comfortable with the time commitment." Fellow SNWA Advisory Committee member John Restrepo also "questioned the commitment to a 10-year sponsorship deal with the Raiders" (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 1/8).
