TD Bank Buys Naming Rights For Blue Jays' Spring Training Home

TD Bank has "taken the naming-rights" to the Blue Jays' spring training home in Dunedin, as the bank is "on a mission to increase its market share across Florida," according to Kritzer & Blumenthal of the PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL. The venue, currently in the midst of an $81M renovation, will reopen in February '20 as TD Ballpark. The bank earlier this year said it would "renew its sponsorship with the Blue Jays for another five years." The naming rights are an "extension of that sponsorship deal," though financial details were not disclosed. The bank has 163 of its 1,249 branches in Florida, where it is "still looking to enhance its brand." TD Bank already has naming rights for TD Garden in Boston, as well as TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. There also is TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J., home to the Atlantic League Somerset Patriots, and the bank has had "serious discussions" with Miami-Dade County about acquiring naming rights to the Heat's arena (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/5).
