Secret Buys Ad In Tampa Bay Times Using Carli Lloyd To Jab Bucs

Secret bought the full-page ad after Bucs K Matt Gay missed the game-winning field goal on SundaySECRET/TAMPA BAY TIMES

P&G's Secret deodorant brand placed a "provocative ad" in Thursday's Tampa Bay Times, suggesting that USWNT F Carli Lloyd "might be the answer" to the Buccaneers' kicking problems, according to Pastor & Stroud of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. Bucs K Matt Gay during Sunday's loss to the Giants "missed one extra point, had another blocked and hooked a 34-yard field-goal attempt wide right in the closing seconds." Secret's ad said, "Hey Bucs fans, do you sweat 34-yarders? Carli Lloyd doesn't." Last month, Lloyd "made a 55-yard field goal during a joint practice" with the Ravens and Eagles. Secret is a sponsor of the USWNT and in July announced that it would contribute $529,000 to the USWNT player's association to "help close the pay gap between the men's and women's national teams." Gay was asked about the ad during Thursday's media availability, and said, "It is what it is. I signed up for this job. I knew what I was getting into when I got into it, especially at my position" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 9/27).
