Cavs, FS Ohio Promote John Michael To Succeed Late Fred McLeod

John Michael will be "filling the role" of longtime Cavaliers TV play-by-play man Fred McLeod, who passed away suddenly two weeks ago, according to Chris Fedor of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. Michael has served as the Cavs’ radio play-by-play broadcaster for the "past eight seasons" and has hosted "Cavs HQ," which airs on both FS Ohio and the Cavaliers Radio Network. He will continue hosting "Cavs HQ" while also "being a regular contributor" to pre- and postgame shows on FS Ohio, while "giving fans behind-the-scenes access via social media." His relationship with FS Ohio goes back to his time as Blue Jackets host, rinkside reporter and contributor to "Blue Jackets Live" pre- and postgame shows. With Michael moving to TV, the Cavs announced the "hire of Tim Alcorn as the radio play-by-play broadcaster." Alcorn has spent the past 27 years at Cleveland-area WEOL-AM, where he was "most recently the lead sports voice, sports director and station manager" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 9/24).
