MISL Holding League Reunion Next Week In Las Vegas

Former Major Indoor Soccer League team President Doug Verb is organizing a league reunion next week in Las Vegas, more than 40 years after the original MISL started. The reunion is set for July 2-4 at the Orleans Hotel & Casino and will include indoor games and a trip to a USL Las Vegas Lights match. Around 75 people are expected, including players, coaches, front-office employees and even some fans. The original MISL, which included 32 franchises in 25 cities from '78-92, staged its first match in Uniondale, N.Y., in December '78, at which Cincinnati Kids co-Owner Pete Rose kicked out the ceremonial first ball. Verb also is working on a documentary, "Off The Wall: The Extraordinary Pioneering Adventure Of The Major Indoor Soccer League,” which he hopes to have finished within a year.
