Shoe Notes: Davis-Ruffles Deal Includes Special-Edition Sneaker

The shoes use the colors of the Ruffles packaging and were designed with a ribbed accent near the heelRUFFLES

ADWEEK's Josh Sternberg noted part of Anthony Davis' new "Chip Deal" with Ruffles is a new shoe -- The Ruffles Ridge Tops -- that was made in collaboration with Nike and "luxury shoemaker Dominic 'The Shoe Surgeon' Chambrone." The shoes "use the colors of the Ruffles packaging and were designed with a ribbed accent near the heel of the shoe, in a nod to what the company says is the 'experience of opening a Ruffles bag and the silhouette of the ridged chip.'" Starting next week through Aug. 4, fans that buy Ruffles and enter the code on the back "can win different kinds of prizes, with the grand prize being the Ruffles-and-Davis-crafted sneakers" (ADWEEK.com, 6/18).

PAYING TRIBUTE: In S.F., Drew Costley noted Under Armour is releasing an edition of Warriors G Stephen Curry's signature shoe "inspired by Oracle Arena." The limited edition "Curry 6 Roaracle colorways" will release on June 21 in Japan, China, North America and "select cities around the world" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 6/18).

POLITICALLY SPEAKING: New Balance, which has "long advocated for and benefited from tariffs," is now "among the critics of President Trump’s duties testifying at a public hearing that started Monday." Duties on soles and other components "would hurt the business" and New Balance VP/Responsible Leadership & Global Compliance Monica Gorman testified that Trump’s proposed duties "will risk the viability of our made-in-the U.S.A. shoes" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 6/17).
