Ticketmaster Launches New SafeTix Program In Majority Of NFL Venues

Ticketmaster launched a service today that generates a new, unique ticket for every device or email address as seats change hands among fans, a system designed to cut fraud and give venues new details about attendees. The service, branded SafeTix, is expected to be used by 27 NFL teams in 26 venues this season. The teams not using the program are either planning moves to permanent venues (Rams, Chargers and Raiders) or have opted out of Ticketmaster’s league deal (Cowboys and Saints). SafeTix runs on the the company’s Presence access control platform, which started to be rolled out in the NFL in '18 and will be fully in place at the 26 permanent venues this year. Another 300 Ticketmaster venues also have Presence. In addition to providing data on actual attendees instead of just those people who originally bought the tickets, the system will track the full life cycle of any ticket originally generated by Ticketmaster. That means venues will know whoever held a ticket on their device, even if that person later sold or gave it away. The company added that SafeTix will allow for quicker scanning at the turnstile, in addition to flagging multiple copies of the same authentic ticket by including a frequently refreshing barcode that would be invalid on a copy.
