Mobile Concessions Firm FanFood Lands Funding From Phoenix Sports

Mobile concessions technology firm FanFood is looking at launching another funding round this year after securing a new $2M investment from Phoenix Sports Partners, which invests in sports technology firms. FanFood CEO Carson Goodale said that the backing will help open more investment doors. FanFood offers a mobile ordering app and technology platforms for teams, venues and concessionaires. “I would imagine a follow-on round to be a little bit bigger, a little more bold,” said Goodale of the next funding round. He said PSP's investment will fund new sales and technology efforts. Chicago-based FanFood now has 15 employees. Jeremy Niecikowski, who previously served as GrubHub Technical Operations Dir, is now FanFood Chief Technology Officer and he said, "We’re bringing in technology all in house and focusing on stadium mobile ordering. Dominating that sector." Goodale said the Univ. of North Carolina, MLS Earthquakes and a number of minor-league ballparks are among his customers. FanFood was founded in '15 and makes its revenue via software licensing fees as well as some customers paying for technology subscriptions. Goodale acknowledges his efforts have to overcome early misfires with mobile concessions ordering and getting fans to download apps.
