Facility Notes

Rock Hill, S.C., Mayor John Gettys said that the NFL Panthers are "considering a tract of undeveloped land" along Interstate 77 as the "potential home for their practice facility." In Charlotte, Michael Gordon notes the land "sits in a largely industrial area with a neighborhood to the northwest." Panthers Owner David Tepper reportedly "wants to buy up to 200 acres for the team's practice areas, offices, and other development." Gettys said that the property near I-77 is the "only Rock Hill site he's aware of that remains in consideration" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 3/29).

GOODBYE AND HELLO: The Honolulu Stadium Authority is "beginning the Environmental Impact Statement and master planning process for a replacement for Aloha Stadium." In Hawaii, A. Kam Napier noted the authority made the announcement Thurdsay while also introducing K.C.-based Crawford Architects as its "master planning and environmental review consultant as well as releasing that firm's Alternative Site Analysis." Six sites on Oahu were examined as "potential locations for Aloha Stadium's replacement," and the Halawa site "came out on top" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 3/28).

LEGACY GIFT: The NFL Foundation will build a turf field in Dayton to "recognize the city's contribution to the history" of the sport. The foundation will "pay to install" the new field, which is "expected to host" a Bengals practice in late summer. The first NFL game was played at Dayton's Triangle Park in 1920 (DAYTON DAILY NEWS, 3/28).
