Nike Releases New Kaepernick Jerseys After His NFL Settlement

The jersey features black mesh and has Kaepernick's last name, No. 7 and Nike swooshes all in whitenike

After the NFL reached a settlement with Colin Kaepernick and Panthers S Eric Reid for their collusion case Friday, Nike released a "limited-edition Kaepernick Icon jersey, which is available on the brand's website," according to Aaron Dodson of THE UNDEFEATED. The new apparel arrived "almost six months after Nike made Kaepernick the face of a reboot to the company's iconic Just Do It campaign." The new Kaepernick jersey is "nondescript, with black mesh and his last name, No. 7 and Nike swooshes all in white." The jersey also has a "specially designed jock tag featuring two logos -- a 'K' next to an illustration of Kaepernick's Afro'd head." The Nike Kaepernick Icon jersey is "almost identical" to the limited-edition #IMWITHKAP jersey that went on sale in September on Kaepernick's website (THEUNDEFEATED.com, 2/20). NBC SPORTS BAY AREA's Brian Witt noted LeBron James earlier this month wore the jersey as a "tease getting off the plane in Oakland." The NFL's logo is "notably absent from the jersey" (NBCSPORTSBAYAREA.com, 2/20). SI.com's Emily Caron noted Kaepernick "shared the news" of the jersey's release on Twitter. He tweeted, "For those true to themselves on and off the field. Proudly, unapologetically and against all odds. This is only the beginning" (SI.com, 2/20).
