PGA Tour, Tiffany Unveil New Trophy For The Players

The trophy is based on the Tour’s golfer logo and an amalgam of players' faces who have won The Playersterry lefton

The PGA Tour and Tiffany this morning unveiled the new trophy for The Players at the retailer’s flagship store in Manhattan. Tiffany Senior Dir of Business Sales Dean Jansen said the 17-inch-high sterling silver and gold trophy took well over a year from design to final execution. It was based on the PGA Tour’s “golfer” logo and an amalgam of the players' faces who have won The Players. “We had a long conference call just on the placement of the golfer’s back foot,” Jansen said with a laugh. Tiffany replaces Waterford as the trophy maker for the tournament. The new trophy is one of six PGA Tour trophies crafted by the company, which also makes championship hardware for MLB, MLS, the NBA, the NFL, the Indianapolis 500, the N.Y. Marathon and tennis' U.S. Open.
