Media Notes

THE ATHLETIC's Steve Berman noted the A’s are "currently looking for a new flagship station" after announcing the team is parting ways with S.F.-based KGMZ-FM. It is unknown if the future home of A’s radio broadcasts has "been decided." But sources said that the team could "end up acquiring" its own station. The A’s "tried to do exactly that" in '10, but their efforts to purchase S.F.-based KTRB-AM failed (THEATHLETIC.com, 9/26).

STAYING ON AIR: The Celtics signed a multiyear extension with Boston-based WBZ-FM, which has been the team’s flagship station since ’13. Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell will continue to call games. Each week during the season, Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge will join the “Toucher & Rich Show” on Thursdays at 9:00am ET, and coach Brad Stevens will join “Zolak & Bertrand” Wednesdays at noon (Celtics).

GONE SO SOON? In N.Y., Andrew Marchand reports Alex Rodriguez, a little over a year after joining ABC's "GMA" as a contributor, is "already finished" with the show. Sources said that there was a "feeling that with Michael Strahan as a main host, there was no room" for Rodriguez, even "just as a contributor." ABC did "not use him much" (N.Y. POST, 9/27).
