Media Notes

In Michigan, Peter Wallner noted the AHL "unveiled a new streaming platform" called AHLTV that will feature "live streaming of every AHL game." AHLTV "succeeds the previous platform of AHL Live." There are a "number of subscriptions available, from $80 for all teams and all games, $60 for one team and all games to a single game for $7" (MLIVE.com, 9/5). AHLTV will use technology from HockeyTech to "form a full digital system," and game feeds will be "combined with the AHL's statistical database from LeagueStat." In Syracuse, Lindsay Kramer writes with the new platform, one of the most "frequent complaints of AHL fans appears to have been wiped away" (Syracuse POST-STANDARD, 9/6).

ON THE MOVE: The Avalanche, Nuggets and Rapids will have a "new home on the radio" this fall: KWOF-FM. Altitude Sports Radio local programming, currently broadcasting on KKSE-AM, "will move" to KWOF. Full-time coverage from Fox Sports Radio "will air" on KKSE, and Fox Sports/KKSE will "expand its regional offerings of college and high school sports" (DENVER POST, 9/6).

TOP OF THE WORLD: NBA reporter Chris Haynes will be "departing ESPN after his two-year contract expires in October to join Yahoo Sports." Haynes, in a "short time and by an unconventional path, vaulted to the top of his profession." He rose from being an "unpaid freelancer" to a "highly paid and sought-after" reporter. Haynes will serve as Yahoo Sports' Senior NBA Insider while being "allowed to build his own reporting team." ESPN "made an offer to retain Haynes," and he also was "pursued by NBC, Sports Illustrated and The Athletic" (FRESNO BEE, 9/6).
