StubHub Joins Pelicans-SeatGeek Open Ticketing Framework

StubHub has signed a multiyear agreement with Pelicans and SeatGeek to become part of the pair’s new open ticketing framework. StubHub will become an authentic ticket partner of the Pelicans with the deal, which marks the company’s first integration with SeatGeek. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the SeatGeek-powered primary and secondary ticketing for the Pelicans will be directly integrated with StubHub’s resale marketplace. The deal also bears some similarity to partnerships StubHub has struck with other ticketing companies including Paciolan and AXS, with the new NFL ticketing integration involving Ticketmaster, StubHub and SeatGeek also representing a meaningful influence. “This is everything we hoped would happen when we went to open ticketing,” said SeatGeek co-Founder Russ D’Souza. “Getting StubHub on board is a massive coup and will absolutely help drive awareness for everything that’s happening with the Pelicans.” StubHub will gain a variety of marketing assets in the Pelicans deal including social collaborations, digital assets and in-venue advertising. “This is something we believe really helps the fan, and we intend to do a lot more of these types of deals,” said StubHub Head of Partnerships for NBA, NFL & NHL Akshay Khanna.
