West Virginia Planning $55M In Improvements To Aging Football Complex

West Virginia AD Shane Lyons unveiled the school's latest facilities master plan, which includes $55M to be "spent on" the Puskar Center football complex, $35M on the WVU Coliseum, $5M on Cary Gym and $5M on a "new golf complex," according to Mitch Vingle of CHARLESTON GAZETTE-MAIL. The campaign is being called “Climbing Higher.” Lyons said, "With a lot of our facilities we are not where we need to be to be successful as an athletic program." He added, "In the league, just to be completely candid, our facilities are probably 10th from a football standpoint (in regard) to an operations center." Lyons said that he would like to see all projects "finished within the next five years." Lyons: "We know that’s aggressive. But we also know if we don’t move forward we’ll be moving backward." He added that the order of projects is "somewhat flexible with the exception of the football work." Lyons: "We could do multiple projects at any given time. We could be doing things with football and at the Coliseum at the same time. It is at the wishes of the donors" (CHARLESTON GAZETTE-MAIL, 8/3).
