Former HBO Exec Behind New Team-Based Pro MMA League

Former HBO Senior VP/Sports Operations & PPV Mark Taffet will team with regional MMA promoter Hani Darwish on a team-based professional MMA league set to launch with a five-event series at the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City beginning in July. The initial event, scheduled for July 20, features the league’s first two announced teams: Team New Jersey and Team Pennsylvania. The other six teams that will compete in MMA Pro League’s inaugural season next year will be revealed during the Atlantic City series. Taffet worked at HBO from '91-'15, presenting 190 events that generated more than 65 million buys and $3.6B in revenue. Darwish was President & CEO of Extreme Fighting Championship.
